Our manufacturing story
The business unit Software Solutions was created by Geislinger because we wanted to better manage our production. What began as an internal project is now an independent unit with one goal: to support medium-sized manufacturing companies in digitizing their production.
We have been actively using OKULON in our Geislinger plants worldwide for many years and benefit from the tailor-made solution every day. As a result, we were able to significantly increase our efficiency in the plants.
2008 — 2018
Discovery phase
During this period, intensive efforts were made to find a suitable solution for production planning. Numerous MES manufacturers were evaluated, but no solution could meet the requirements.
2018
Decision to develop your own
The decision was made to develop our own MES — tailored to our needs. Since the search was unsuccessful, in-house development should represent the long-term solution.
2019
The start of GPS to your own MES
The existing solution was replaced by the self-developed MES, which was initially known as GPS (Geislinger Planning System). It started with basic functions and was continuously expanded. Our own modules gradually replaced the third-party software.
2021
Use in assembly
With the option of planning across locations, MES was also introduced at the Salzburg plant. As a result, the close cooperation between production and assembly at the two Austrian sites was significantly improved.
2023
Remote roll-out at the South Korean plant
Five years after the first line of code, MES was fully developed and could be introduced at the Geislingen plant in South Korea. The rollout was carried out completely remotely and step by step. The system was very well received there.
2024
From internal tool to product
The idea of offering MES to external customers was born back in 2018. After successful assignments at three Geislingen plants, the idea took shape. An external benchmark confirmed the potential and our MES became a standalone product.
2025
Founding of the Software Solutions business unit
The rollout at the US plant took place on site within a few weeks, including training and direct machine connection. Plant four was thus successfully integrated. At the same time, the “Software Solutions” business unit and the brand name OKULON were created.
We know the challenges from our own experience — and with OKULON, we have created a solution that grew directly on the shop floor.
